A survey of superthermal electron flux depressions, or “electron holes,” within the illuminated Martian induced magnetosphere
Since Mars lacks a global intrinsic magnetic field, the solar wind interacts directly with the Martian upper atmosphere and ionosphere. The presence of localized intense remnant crustal magnetic fields adds to this interaction, making the Martian plasma system a unique environment within the solar system. Rapid reductions in the electron flux, referred to as “electron holes,” occur within the M...
متن کاملSaltation transport on Mars.
We present the first calculation of saltation transport and dune formation on Mars and compare it to real dunes. We find that the rate at which grains are entrained into saltation on Mars is 1 order of magnitude higher than on Earth. With this fundamental novel ingredient, we reproduce the size and different shapes of Mars dunes, and give an estimate for the wind velocity on Mars.
متن کاملSand transport on Mars
Whether the winds of the present Mars are shaping the variety of dune forms observed on the Martian surface has remained an open question that challenged planetary scientists for decades. In order to elucidate this issue, we have studied sand transport and dune formation from two different points of view. The first approach consists of solving the equations of aeolian transport at the level of ...
متن کاملElectron Transport in a Model Si Transistor
A model transistor is de ned and used to understand steady-state electron transport in nanoscale silicon transistors. For this model device, the electric eld pro le is xed and not computed self-consistently from the carrier density pro le. The current versus voltage (I-V) characteristics of the model device as well as the internal carrier density and velocity pro les are computed by solving the...
متن کاملExtraction of model parameters for reactive solute transport
In the present study, tried to examine the reactive solute relationships for transport and degradation processes through the rockfill media. By applying the analytical solution of reactive transport, the 1st to 3rd theoretical temporal moments have been extracted then, by using two methods of curve fitting and temporal moment matching, the coefficients of dispersion and degradation have been ex...
